Hardwood Floor Refinishing NYC

This customer wanted the hardwood floors in their apartment refinished. Over time dirt and debris became embedded in the wood floor. This deteriorated the polyurethane, leaving the hardwood floor susceptible to damage.

Hardwood Floor Refinishing NYC

The results of the embedded soils can be seen clearly in this photo. There was discoloration throughout the apartment and especially where the polyurethane was completely dissolved. Another issue the customer faced was the fact that the furniture could not be removed from the apartment during the restoration process. This was not a problem for our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists, who would employ our "Half and Half" method. This involves moving the furniture to one side and refinishing the exposed hardwood flooring. The furniture is then moved onto the newly restored wood floor and the rest of the apartment is restored in the same way.

Before:

This customer wanted the hardwood floor in their entranceway and living room refinished. Over the years soils embedded themselves in the floor, causing the discoloration and fading seen in the photo.

No Sanding Floor Refinishing NY

Another issue the customer had was the gaps showing up between the boards of the wood floor. Wood expands with warm weather and contracts in the cold. This is typical of all hardwood flooring, but the materials used to fill the gaps in this wood floor were sub-par. Subsequently, the material cracked with the natural expansion and subtraction of the hardwood floor, causing the unsightly gaps.

The customer did not want to remove the carpet and furniture in the living room. This was not a problem for our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists. Our Sandless Finish Process can safely work around furniture and carpeting.

This customer wanted the hardwood floor in their living room refinished. Over time, dirt and debris embedded in the wood floor caused the discoloration and dullness of shine seen in the photo.

This close-up photo shows a particularly damaged area of hardwood flooring. Soils embedded in the wood floor deteriorated the polyurethane over time and left the wood beneath susceptible to damage. The loss of color and shine can clearly be seen here. Also, heavy furniture was dragged over the hardwood floor. Soils then embedded themselves into the resultant scratches, causing the blackening of color seen in the photo.

This kitchen had similar problems to the rest of the hardwood floor. Although the damage was not as heavy here, scratches and discoloration were apparent throughout the area.

A reverse shot of the living area highlights the inconsistency in color and shine that the hardwood floors displayed. The area in the right of the photo has lost nearly all of it's color and shine due to the previously mentioned issues. In some situations our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists recommend sanding a floor - such was the case for this customer.

After:
Sandless Hardwood Floor Refinishing NYC

Our Sandless Finish Deep Sanding Method completely removes all damaged layers of wood to reveal the healthy floor beneath. This is achieved by sanding the hardwood floor in multiple passes with our specialized machinery. Our Specialists start with a rough sandpaper to deeply penetrate the hardwood floor. Subsequent passes are made with smoother and smoother grades of sandpaper until all damaged layers of wood are removed. Once the healthy wood is exposed and a smooth surface is achieved, our Specialists seal the floor and apply multiple layers of a high quality, commercial grade polyurethane to ensure maximum protection. The results can be seen in the photo.
