Bikram Yoga - SOHO, NY, NY

Bikram Yoga NYC opened its doors in August 1999 and became Manhattan's first Bikram Yoga Studio! This is the entryway to a new studio opening in Soho, NYC. The owners called Sandless Finish to have the hardwood floors of the studio restored. The previous owners of the space did not properly maintain the wood floors and dirt and debris was embedded into the wood. This caused the floors to have an overall dull and lifeless appearance.

 

This photo shows an area where a rushed patching was performed by a previous contractor. The wood was not stained to match the rest of the hardwood flooring and no polyurethane was applied for protection. Our Specialists would have to use our Custom Sandless Finish Color Blending technique to restore the area.

The area by the bathrooms had the same problems as the rest of the hardwood flooring. The new owners needed the wood floors to reflect the warm and encouraging environment that Bikram Yoga Studios strive to achieve. All soils and discoloration needed to be removed from the hardwood floors in order to restore them to their original, healthy condition!

 

 

The reception area's hardwood flooring had retained the same soils and resultant dulling as the rest of the studio space.

 

The back office had a lot of residual paint left on the wood flooring from previous contractors and would need to be restored as well.

 

After:

 

With the use of our specialized floor machines and strong reacting solutions, our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process removed all of the dirt and debris from the floors. Utilizing unique grinding materials with the machines, our specialists were able to remove surface scratches from the floor - all with absolutely no dust!

This previously unfinished section of flooring now blends seamlessly in with the rest of the studio! Using our Custom Sandless Finish Color Blending technique, our Specialists created a custom stain to match the section to the rest of the flooring!

 

This area previously displayed an abundance of paint splashes and soils in the wood. All were removed using our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process to restore the wood floor to the beautiful condition seen in the photo!

 

The area by the bathroom is now completely sanitized and has a warm and inviting look for the Bikram Yoga Studio clientele.

 

The reception room has the same healthy look as the rest of the studio's hardwood flooring!

Finally, all of the paint and soils were removed from the back office as well. This Bikram Yoga Studio's hardwood floors now have a warm and inviting feel that will be enjoyed for many years to come by the studio's clients. Apartment - Astoria, Queens, NY

 

Before:

 

This customer needed their hardwood floors refinished. Years of dirt and debris had worked their way into the wood floor's surface, deteriorating the polyurethane and leaving the boards exposed. Once the wood is exposed the embedded soils cause severe damage and discoloration. The results are seen in the photo..

This section of hardwood flooring was in better condition then the more damaged areas but discoloration and an uneven shine can be seen in the upper half of the photo.

 

The back area of the apartment's parquet flooring had heavy damage as well. In order to restore these floors our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists would have to employ a variety of techniques.

 

 

After:

 

Our specialists used our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process to remove all of the dirt and debris from the floor. Once the floor was sanitized completely, our specialists could focus on restoring the original color to the discolored patches of flooring. The overall results of our processes are evident in the photo.

After our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing and Custom Color Blending Processes were performed the floors have a beautiful, consistent color and vibrant shine!

 

Another problem faced by our Specialists was the fact that furniture had to remain in the room the work was performed. In such cases our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists utilize a "half and half" technique. Using this method the furniture is moved to one side of the room and the floor is refinished. Once the wood floors are restored and the polyurethane dries, our Specialists move the furniture safely onto the newly refinished flooring. Then the rest of the wood floor is restored and a seamless finish is achieved! This photo shows the various steps in our process - The far left strip of flooring was refinished first, the middle section is a sanitized section of flooring without color/polyurethane, and the far right strip is the parquet floor in it's original state.

 

 

 

After our Sandless Finish Process even the highly discolored second half of the apartment came out with a beautiful color and shine!

Apartment - Midtown East, NYC, NY

 

Before:

 

This customer was moving into a new apartment and wanted to have their herringbone hardwood floors refinished and stained. In some situations our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists recommend sanding. This was the case for this customer since the wood floors were inadequately sanded and refinished in the past. This left scarring from sanding machines and deeply embedded damage in the hardwood floors

This view of the entryway highlights the damage apparent on the hardwood floors. A low-grade polyurethane was used on the floor in the past which left the wood floors susceptible to damage. The polyurethane had dissolved in areas and the previous tenants had scratched the floor as well. This left areas exposed to dirt and debris which was embedded deep into the floorboards.

 

This section of the hallway's wood floor had severe discoloration due to soils embedding themselves into the floor. This should not occur on a hardwood floor that is properly refinished and maintained.

 

 

The bedroom displayed the same damage as the rest of the hardwood flooring with even more discoloration apparent throughout the room.

After:

Our Sandless Finish Deep Sanding Process minimizes the production of dust with the use of special machinery. The sanding is done in multiple passes of different grades of sandpaper which range from a very rough grit to an extremely smooth grit. This effectively removes all of the damaged layers of wood and provides a healthy surface to which stain can be applied.

 

 

Our Sandless Finish Color Specialists worked with the customer to create a custom stain. Once our Sandless Finish Deep Sanding Process was performed the floor was ready to be stained. The custom stain was applied by our specialists and multiple layers of a high quality, commercial grade polyurethane were applied. This last step is very important in order to ensure the highest level of protection is provided for our customers. Now the wood floors have a beautiful, warm grey color which gives the apartment a very unique and wonderful look!

 

 

As you can see, all of the damage was removed from the entryway's hardwood flooring as well. This allowed our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists to restore the hallway to the beautiful condition you see here!

This customer needed the hardwood floor in their bedroom refinished. Due to a sub-par refinishing by a previous contractor these wood floors were highly susceptible to damage. Apartment - Chelsea, NYC

 

Before:

 

This customer wanted the parquet floors in their main living area refinished. Years of dirt and debris worked their way into this hardwood floor which caused the grittiness, patchy coloring and uneven finish seen in the photo.

 

This photo highlights the problems inherent in the customer’s hardwood flooring. The dirt and debris also deteriorated the polyurethane in places, leaving the wood exposed.

 

This close-up of the parquet floor shows areas where the wood is exposed and unprotected. A black mark from tape left on the floor can be seen in the upper left part of the photo. Areas such as these would require our Custom Sandless Finish Color Blending Process in order to match them to the rest of the wood floors.

 

High traffic areas such as entryways often see heavier damage than anywhere else on a hardwood floor. The discolored area in this section of flooring was caused by years of soils brought in from people entering the apartment.

The success of our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process can be seen in this photo. All of the dirt and debris was removed and the wood floors were sanitized. Our Custom Sandless Finish Color Blending Process was used in the exposed and discolored areas. After multiple layers of a high quality, commercial grade polyurethane, the hardwood floors now have a beautiful, rich color and vibrant finish.

This customer wanted the parquet floor in their bedroom refinished. Over time dirt and debris worked its way into the wood floor, causing the fading and discoloration seen in the photo. Our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process was the perfect solution to restore these floors!

 

 

The customer’s furniture could not be removed from the room which was not a problem for our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists. In such situations our specialists use a “half and half” to accommodate the customer. Our specialists move the furniture to one side of the room and perform the Sandless Finish Process. Once the process is completed, the furniture is safely moved onto the newly restored section of flooring. The Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process is then performed on the rest of the wood floor to create a seamless match!

 

 

As you can see, the hardwood floor in the entryway displayed the same problems as the bedroom and would need restoration as well.

 

After:

 

Our Sandless Finish Hardwood Floor Refinishing Specialists restored the wood on this side of the room first. After a deep cleaning and multiple layers of a high quality, commercial grade polyurethane the parquet floors now have a consistent shine and vibrant color.

The second half of the hardwood floor was then refinished using our Sandless Finsih Hardwood Floor Refinishing Process. The color and sheen were restored. Best of all, the entire room now has a seamless, consistent finish! All this was done without having to remove the furniture from the room!
